Time for action on Arctic oil drilling

The following is the letter I sent to Brad Ellsworth, Richard Lugar, and Evan Bayh.

This is the content of my letter. I ask everyone reading this to contact these government officials and make it a priority with them that we are not going to wait any longer for action on energy and the future of our country.

China is drilling for oil just 50 miles off our southern border folks!

My letter:

Quit with the platitudes and promises to work for alternative energy programs. Take action on drilling for oil in ANWR. Get off the strangulation of coal and nuclear energy. I have had it with inaction by our government and will guarantee you this, if YOU fail to take action, I will do everything I can to see you and the rest are removed from office next election.

Cannot make it any clearer than that can I?

U.S. progressing in noble mission

For reasons which I don’t understand, members of the profession of journalism (reporters, editors and TV news anchors) have totally blacked out a huge story: “We are winning in Iraq”. (Yes, winning!)

Under the command of Gen. David Petraeus (West Point graduate), our forces are moving on offense to destroy the terrorists. It is a documented fact that al-Qaida is on the run and is unable to establish a safe haven. As a former GI, I feel an immeasurable sense of pride when our Armed Forces are successful in carrying out their operations.

Possessing the highest degree of expertise in conducting a counterinsurgency conflict, Gen. Petraeus has forged a very productive rapport with the populous of Iraq.

It is my sincere belief that the most easily found beneficial result of our policy (in Iraq) is the obvious stability of the democratically elected government. Reconciliation among the warring factions is the primary task.

I was really proud of our ally, when, under the virtual command of Mr. Nouri al-Maliki, the prime minister, the Iraqi forces destroyed the enemy in Basra and as a successful operation in the Shiite stronghold of Sadr City, caused the fighters to seek a truce.

During a spirited discussion with a few of my liberal friends, while having a cup of coffee at a local fast-food restaurant, I “unequivocally” stated that our (the American) cause is noble and just! We disposed of a tyrant, who, according to the former UN Weapons Inspector Charles Duelfer, had a clandestine network of laboratories.

Rhetorically, I asked my friends at the table: “Do you think the chief project at these labs was the refining of a more advanced form of cottage cheese?”

The Monster of Baghdad had the apparatus in place to build deadly weapons designated (and targeted) against us (the people of the United States)!

The politicians who are critics of the war are running around citing the phrase: “We support the troops.”

I would like to fortify this motto as follows:

“I support the troops AND the mission!”

Candidate says thanks

I was one of six Democrat candidates running for Vigo County recorder in the May primary election. Even though I finished in fourth place, the 2,855 people who voted for me made me feel like I finished in first place.

Thank you for your support.
