Unhappy with plan for new sports bar
We live right behind the proposed sports bar at Blakely and Locust. How lucky could a homeowner get? We have a junkyard and a no-kill pet shelter on the northside of us, now they want a sports bar on our west side. The railroad on the east side looks pretty good.
Whole families use the Heritage Trail and it is dangerous crossing now with a group of children. We do not need any impaired drivers exiting the sports bar.

Gravel pit not good for city’s north end
I am one of the residents of Terre Haute that is fed up with nothing good ever happening for the north end. I now notice that there is a sign of notice on Boston Avenue, at the old Crystal Lake entrance. Seems someone wants to turn it into a gravel pit. Not only do we not want it, we are already being boxed in by gravel and junk yards.
The city doomed the Lafayette project which would have been a great boost to the traffic and business in the area. But the city seems not to care about the eyesores and of the heavy trucks and the degradation of the roads that these businesses bring with them.
What happens to our well water when they dig at this site? Most homes here in Terre Town have wells. School bus traffic and children on Boston at the blind drive that exists at this site is another concern. Take a look at 25th Street and at North 13th Street where the same types of businesses exist and ask yourself, if this is what you want in your neighborhood?
Wake up, zoning board, do the right thing for once.

A sweet retreat on South Seventh
Need a pick-me-up? Try a cupcake from Caboodle Cupcakes on South Seventh Street close to Davis Avenue. They are picture-perfect and delicious.
This is a new business owned by Susan Tingley who “retired” into the baking business. They have been open for two months and I am one of their “gluten-free” customers. They have “gluten-free” cupcakes on Wednesdays and other days by special order.
They offer 19 different flavors every week with specials each day of the week. They will notify you by e-mail as to what flavors they are offering. I love all of them, but the banana with honey-cinnamon frosting is my favorite.
Their number is (812) 232-5551. Check out this quaint little place.
