HONOLULU —
Mike Sanford is officially Indiana State’s football coach.
According to ISU Director of Athletics Ron Prettyman, Sanford has signed his contract, which calls for a five-year deal at a base salary of $180,000 per year.
There had been some hand-wringing on the part of fans earlier this week when Utah State coach Gary Andersen was hired at Wisconsin. It was feared Sanford — who was on Andersen’s staff at USU at assistant head coach — might follow Andersen to Wisconsin or could be hired by USU to replace him.
Those fears were unfounded. USU hired Matt Wells to replace Andersen on Thursday.
