Indiana State University now has a full-time transfer coordinator on the main campus of Ivy Tech Community College-Wabash Valley.
“As more students look to continue their education after completing associate degrees at Ivy Tech, we want them to know that we’re there to help ensure a smooth transition to a baccalaureate program,” said Melissa Hughes, director of outreach and co-director of transfer central in ISU’s Division of Enrollment Management.
Linda Clark-Laffoon is serving as ISU’s on-campus transfer coordinator at the Ivy Tech campus in Terre Haute. She previously worked as assistant to the dean of the ISU’s School of Graduate Studies for 1-1/2 years after a 10-year stint as associate director of distance education at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College.
“I look forward to having more direct contact with students,” Clark-Laffoon said of her new position. “Having a presence at Ivy Tech provides transfer students with the opportunity to make a face-to-face connection with someone from Indiana State. Making sure they feel comfortable on campus and are taking the right courses is vital to their continued success.”
ISU has a revitalized dual admissions agreement enabling students to be enrolled at Ivy Tech and ISU at the same time, Clark-Laffoon noted. The university also has new scholarships available for transfer students, she said.
Ivy Tech-Wabash Valley students needing assistance with ISU transfer issues may call Clark-Laffoon at (812) 298-2529.
ISU also has on-campus transfer coordinators on Ivy Tech campuses in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Columbus and at Vincennes University.
