INDIANAPOLIS —
An Indiana Supreme Court justice questioned the state’s efforts to block Gov. Mitch Daniels from giving a deposition in a lawsuit Indiana filed against IBM after Daniels canceled a state contract.
The Supreme Court heard arguments this morning from lawyers for the state and IBM on whether a state law prohibiting governors from facing a court subpoena applies in lawsuits over Daniels’ decision to cancel a nearly $1.4 billion contract with IBM to process welfare applications.
State lawyers argued that a Marion County judge’s December order that IBM could question Daniels was wrong and that the company has been able to interview many of Daniels’ aides about the decision.
The court didn’t say when it would issue a ruling.
Indiana is suing to recover more than $400 million from IBM.
