Those were the scenarios for Northview and Terre Haute North on Tuesday in the first round of the Class 4A Mooresville Sectional for boys high school basketball, the Knights losing 56-44 to the home team and the Patriots dispatching Plainfield 63-40. -
ISU looking forward to second chance against Drake
The second time around has been kind for the Indiana State men’s basketball team this season.
ISU has faced two Missouri Valley Conference teams — Southern Illinois and Creighton — where it lost the first game of the season series. In each case, it won the rematch. In each case, the rematch was at Hulman Center.
Drake is the third MVC team to step into that role at 7 p.m. today and it’s another chance for the Sycamores to reverse the outcome of an earlier loss. -

Prep roundup: South's 200 medley relay, Mitchell move on to Saturday's swimming finals
Terre Haute South’s 200-yard medley relay qualified 15th and South sophomore Dalton Mitchell qualified 10th in the 100 backstroke, setting a school record in the process, to advance out of Friday’s preliminary round and into today’s consolation round in the IHSAA boys swimming state finals in the Indiana University Natatorium.
South’s 200 medley relay team had a time of 1 minute, 37.53 seconds. Mitchell’s 100 back time was 53.82 seconds.
South coach Jeff Thompson said freshman standout Chandler Bray, who was scheduled to race in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke, was forced to scratch because of an illness. -
South diver, swimmers head into state looking for best efforts
They’ve evolved from the happy-to-be-here stage, even though they are happy to be here.
But diver Alex Davis and five swimmers from Terre Haute South were planning all season to represent the Braves at the boys state high school swimming championships that start this evening. They’ll enjoy themselves without celebrating — at least until the meet is over — and aren’t likely to be overwhelmed by the moment. -

Robinson got off to a winning start in the Illinois High School Association boys basketball tournament Tuesday, defeating Marshall 68-37.
The Maroons are 26-4 and will play Casey or Newton in the Newton Class 2A Regional championship game Friday night. -
West Vigo can’t control Linton’s big men in 50-35 setback
Linton’s big men took control of the boys high school basketball game Tuesday night inside the Miners’ gym, leading the 17-3 squad to a 50-35 victory against West Vigo.
After falling behind 13-2 to start the game, the visiting Vikings slowly mounted a rally, pulling within two at halftime.
West Vigo senior Kyle Stewart hit a 3-pointer to put the Vikings ahead 25-24 early in the third quarter, but the Miners were able to regain control.
Six-foot-5 Dess Fougerousse had 17 of his 21 points in the second half for Linton, while 6-7 Austin Karaszia finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks. -
South freshman Chandler Bray leads Braves to second at swimming sectional
Terre Haute South freshman Chandler Bray won the 200-yard individual medley and the Braves placed second as a team behind favored Avon in Saturday’s finals of the IHSAA Plainfield Sectional for boys swimming.
Avon accumulated 511 points, with South next at 423, Plainfield third at 244 and Terre Haute North fourth at 230. Greencastle was fifth with 193, while South Putnam and West Vigo finished 10th and 11th respectively. -
West Vigo battles past North Central to improve to 10-10
For three-plus quarters West Vigo and host North Central went back and forth. The Thunderbirds would take a three-point lead, then the Vikings would spurt back to a four-point edge.
But over the final 6 minutes and 30 seconds, West Vigo took control on the defensive end of the floor and pulled away to a 60-43 victory. The Vikings are back to .500 at 10-10 on the year. - More High School Headlines
