Terre Haute North at Lawrence North

The action — Terre Haute North’s Patriots (16-5, 3-3 MIC) finish off the regular-season with a Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference battle against Lawrence North (13-7, 3-3).

The time — Varsity tipoff is approximately 7:30 p.m.

The airwaves — None.

The coaches — Todd Woelfle is 24-20 in his second year at Terre Haute North. Jack Keefer is 594-225 in his 34th year at Lawrence North and 655-251 in 38th season overall.

Probable starting lineups — For North, 5-10 junior Chase Jones, 6-2 senior Chris O’Leary and 6-2 junior Logan Shipley at guards and 6-8 junior Justin Gant and 6-6 senior Thomas Anderson at forwards. For Lawrence North, 6-0 senior Farooq Davis and 6-1 junior Rick Thomas at guards, 6-6 Ryan Taylor and 6-4 senior Perrin Ashley at forwards and 6-10 junior Michael Chandler at center.

Key reserves — For North, 6-2 sophomore Ross Sponsler, 6-2 senior Andrew Gauer, 5-10 junior Tommie Bolden and 6-5 freshman Calvin Blank.

Recent games — North is coming off a 67-40 victory against Evansville Reitz on Tuesday. Lawrence North lost 62-58 in overtime to Pike on Wednesday.

Last meeting — Lawrence North won last season 43-28.

Coaches’ quotes — Woelfle on his team: “We just want to be competitive and play well and continue building on good play for the tournament. We also have an opportunity to finish above .500 in the conference, which has only happened two other times since we joined the MIC.”

Woelfle on the Wildcats: “They are big and long and athletic. We must take care of the basketball and rebound in order for us to be successful.”

West Vigo at Linton

The action — West Vigo’s Vikings (11-10) travel to the Linton Miners (2-17) in a nonconference game to conclude the regular season for both teams.

The time — Varsity tipoff is approximately 7:30 p.m.

The airwaves — The game will be broadcast on WQTY-FM 93.3.

The coaches — Joe Boehler is 30-16 in his second year at West Vigo. Darren Clayton is 49-81 in his sixth year at Linton.

Probable starting lineups — For West Vigo, 6-0 senior Tyler Wampler, 6-0 junior Scott West and 5-9 sophomore Jordan Houser at guards, 6-0 sphomore Cody Thornton and 6-1 senior Brodey McCalister at forwards.

For Linton, 5-11 junior Caleb Stuppy and 6-0 senior Chase Rhoten at guards, 6-5 freshman Austin Karazsia, 6-2 junior Tim Scott at forwards, 6-3 freshman Dess Fougerousse at center.

Key reserves — For West Vigo, 6-2 junior Ryan Crowther, 6-0 junior Zach Kentr, 6-2 sophomore Matt Flesher.

For Linton, 5-7 junior Gunnar Passen, 5-9 junior Stephen Franklin, 5-10 freshman Clayton French.

Team leaders — For West Vigo, Wampler averages nearly 20 points per game and West is averaging about 13 ppg. The pair combined to score 43 points at Sullivan on Wednesday.

For Linton, Karazsia had 15 points and 13 rebounds, Stuppy had 13 points and Rhoten 10 points vs. Clay City.

Recent games — West Vigo dropped a 71-68 decision at Sullivan in a Western Indiana Conference game on Wednesday. Linton was nipped 71-70 at Clay City on Tuesday.

Last meeting — West Vigo thumped Linton 64-35 in the Green Dome on Feb. 27, 2009. This is just the second meeting between the two teams going back to the 1993-94 season.

Coaches’ quotes — Boehler on the Vikings: “We’re trying to get a little bit momentum going into the sectional. We thought we played well here in the second half [at Sullivan on Wednesday]. Hopefully, that will continue over into the Linton game, then hopefully that will continue over into our first-round [sectional] game with Brown County next Tuesday night.”

Clayton told the Greene County Daily World after Tuesday’s game at Clay City: “We’ll find out [if this is a character building game or not] when we get down to North Knox [in the sectional] next week. If we get ourselves in another nail-biter and we can learn from this, bring something from this to help us when it really counts in the tournament and use something we learned here tonight to help us win down there, it’ll be big.”

Rockville

at Terre Haute South

The action — The Rockville Rox (10-10) take on the Terre Haute South Braves (11-10) in a nonconference game that is the regular season finale for both teams.

The time — Varsity tipoff is approximately 7:30 p.m.

The airwaves — WAXI-FM 104.9.

Note — South will honor 1979 All-Star Cam Cameron and will retire his jersey at halftime.

The coaches — Dave Mahurin is 97-64 in his seventh season at Rockville and is 222-206 overall. Mike Saylor is 88-58 in his sixth season at South.

Probable starting lineups — For South, G Anthony McGill, G John Michael Jarvis, G-F Bryn Schwartz, F Jacob Tanoos and F-C Ike Worrell are possible starters. For Rockville, G Cody Jeffries, G Joel Wittenmeyer, G Jordon McFall, F Clint White and F Lane Mahurin are possible starters.

Key reserves — For South, F-G Joey Etling, G Jermaine Smith, G Gary Ulrich, F Jeffrey Turner and G Bobby McKenna are contributors off the bench. For Rockville, F-C Drew Kelley, G Kyle Wheeler and G-F Eric Lear are contributors off the bench.

Recent games — South defeated Vincennes Lincoln 59-47 on Tuesday and has won two of three. Rockville knocked off South Putnam 57-42 on Tuesday and has won three in a row and five of its last six games.

Last meeting — Rockville won 45-38 at Hulman Center last season. South had won the previous two meetings.

Coaches’ quotes — South coach Mike Saylor: "Rockville is certainly playing their best ball of the year, but you know what? We’re playing our best ball of the year too. That’s what we’re going to emphasize is our positive. We can’t control how Rockville is playing, they’re obviously playing good, but we’re playing good ourselves."
