METRO ROUNDUP: Terre Haute South golf holds off Linton

TERRE HAUTE — Terre Haute South outscored Linton 181-215 in a girls high school match Wednesday at Rea Park.

South senior Alexandra Pickens took medalist honors with 40 after having a career-best 39 Tuesday. Ali Danielson had 44 and Katelynn Gordon 47 for the 2-0 Braves.

Katie Wells led Linton with 45.

Next — South (2-0) will compete Saturday in the Franklin Central Invitational at Smock Golf Course. Linton (1-5) plays North Knox and Mitchell today at Stonecrest at Bedford.



Tennis

• Bloomfield 3, Northview 2 — At Brazil, Bloomfield swept the singles matches to edge the host Knights in season-opening boys high school action Wednesday.

• Edgewood 4, Sullivan 1 — At Ellettsville, the No. 2 doubles duo of Ryan Thompson and Riley Pirtle scored the Golden Arrows’ only match point in Western Indiana Conference boys high school action Wednesday.

Auto racing

• Juniors in action — Junior dragsters were in action last weekend at Crossroads Dragway.

Racers came from as far south as Alabama to Ohio in the east to compete for Wally trophies in their classes.

Fun Night runs are slated for Friday with regular racing Saturday. Time runs are at 12:30 p.m.
