PREP ROUNDUP: Hyatt scores 14, Peters 10 in tight Northview win

BRAZIL — Northview got 14 points from Damon Hyatt and 10 from Craig Peters in edging visiting Greenwood 48-46 in boys high school basketball Wednesday night.

• Games reset — New dates have been set for two games postponed last week.

White River Valley will be at Sullivan on Feb. 11 for a boys game with the junior varsity, starting at 12:30 p.m.

Terre Haute South will be at Carmel for a girls varsity game Feb. 2, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday

• Linton 77, Union 49 — At Dugger, the Miners evened their record at 8-8 with the victory.

Austin Karaszia had 20 points and Dess Fougerousse 16 for the winners. Tyler Talpas scored 18 for the Bulldogs.

• Arcola 59, Martinsville 54 — At Atwood, Ill., Arcola won its eighth game in  a row and snapped Martinsville's four-game winning streak in a second-round game of the Little Okaw Valley Conference tournament Monday.

Blaine Washburn led the Bluestreaks with 16 points.

• Red Hill 21, Marshall 51 — At Lawrenceville, Ill., Kaydie Grooms had 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots and Alexis Thompson added 14 points and four steals to lead Marshall over Red Hill in the semifinals of the Little Illini Conference tournament.

Taylor Paulin paced Red Hill with 12 points.

Marshall advances to the finals Friday to face Lawrenceville at Red Hill for the LIC tourney championship.

• New route leads to same place for South girls tennis

  For so many years, the road to the IHSAA girls tennis state finals for local teams ran through Vincennes (regional) and Jasper (semistate). In other words, south and more south.
  This year, their trip was re-routed through Greencastle (regional) and Center Grove (semistate). So it cnahged to east and more east.

  Robinson jumped to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, then cruised to a convincing 12-3 victory over Greenville in a IHSA Class 2A Vandalia sectional semifinal game on Thursday.
  Ashlyn Sullivan was 2 for 3 with a double, home run and three RBIs to lead the winning Maroons.

• South Vermillion softball's late-season surge comes to end

  A late-season surge by South Vermillion wasn’t quite enough to halt a high school softball sectional winning streak by the host team Thursday night, as Edgewood got on top early and held on for a 5-2 win in the championship game of the Class 3A Edgewood Sectional.
  The loss was just the second in the last 12 games for the Wildcats. The Mustangs, however, haven’t lost a sectional softball game for eight years in a row.
