Terre Haute North finished third and Terre Haute South fifth in the eight-team Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference championships for girls high school tennis Saturday at Ben Davis’ courts.
Carmel won with 60 points, Indianapolis North Central was second with 28 and Terre Haute North was third with 27.

• Shakamak splits Saturday — At Linton and Bloomington, Shakamak played games at two different sites. The Lakers defeated Linton 5-4 as Patrick Green struck out 16 Miners and hit a home run. Linton’s Tanner Butler struck out 11 in the loss.
The Lakers then went to Bloomington and lost to Bloomington North 12-3.

North baseball pulls away from South in sectional opener
In high school baseball little things mean a lot, and the crack in the door doesn’t have to be open very wide.
Terre Haute North burst through that crack in the bottom of the second inning Wednesday evening at Terre Haute South, scoring seven two-out runs and going on to a surprisingly easy 12-2 victory over the host Braves. -
