PREP ROUNDUP: White River Valley baseball holds off Eminence

JASONVILLE — Three Eminence errors in the top of the sixth inning finally enabled White River Valley to score in high school baseball Thursday night, and the Wolverines went on to a 5-0 win in Class A Shakamak Sectional action.

Ethan Sparks pitched a two-hitter for White River Valley and reached on the first of the three errors that produced two runs.

He also scored on Michael Fisher’s two-run double in the top of the seventh, and another Eminence error allowed the Wolverines’ final run to score.

Next — White River Valley plays Union in the second semifinal game on Monday. Shakamak and Clay City play the 11 a.m. opener that day.



• Falcons, Rox win — At Rockville, North Vermillion defeated Attica 11-6 and the host Rox routed Covington 17-3 in the first round of the Class A Rockville Sectional on Thursday.

The wins set up a Banks-of-the-Wabash final four for the tournment, with North Vermillion and Rockville playing at 10 a.m. Monday followed by Riverton Parke vs. Turkey Run. Championship game is 7 p.m.
