PREP ROUNDUP: Mahurin leads Rox to victory

ROCKVILLE — Lane Mahurin tallied 10 of his game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter to help Rockville hold off Wabash River Conference foe Fountain Central 80-72 in boys high school basketball Friday night.

Gary Ulrich added 21 points and Cody Jeffries had 12, all in the first quarter, for the Rox. Fountain Central’s top scorers were brothers Sam Woodrow and Ethan Woodrow with 19 points apiece and Luke Davenport with 18.

Aaron Hill of Riverton Parke was the game’s only double-figure scorer with 16.

n Marshall 69, Edwards County 39 — At Albion, Ill., Marshall's boys basketball  team won its second road game of the week in Little Illini Conference action.

The Lions outscored the host team 40-21 in the second half in hiking their record to 17-6 going into Tuesday's game with Clark County rival Casey.

Jacob Duncan had 10 points and seven assists for the winners and hit the 1,000-point mark in the second half.

Thomas Sisson led the Lions with 16 points and six boards while Logan Cannady had 10 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Riley Raber led the 11-12 EC team with 17 points.

The Marshall junior varsity team won its 10th game with Austin Osborn scoring 14 points. Osborn also had four points and five boards in limited varsity action.

n Northview 49, Bloomfield 47 — At Bloomfield, Cassie Weddle made two free throws with seven seconds left Thursday to lift the Knights to their first victory of the season. Abbey Timberman led Northview with 18 points.

n Marshall 66, Casey 21 — At Casey, Ill., Kaydie Grooms had 15 points and five steals and Ariana Kuhn 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots Thursday as the Lions wrapped up an unbeaten Little Illini Conference season.

Erika Kuhn added 10 points and three assists and Alexis Thompson nine points, seven rebounds and four assists for Marshall. Taylor Birchfield led the Warriors with eight points.
