Brittany Voils had 16 points and Shyanne Elkins had nine points and nine rebounds Thursday as West Vigo closed out its 2012-13 girls basketball regular season with a 44-35 win over visiting Covington.
The Vikings took control by outscoring the Trojans 12-3 in the first quarter and led by 10 at halftime. Covington, led by Avery Chezem’s 16 points, cut the lead to five by the end of the third quarter but West Vigo pulled away.

n Northview 40, Bloomfield 39 — At Bloomfield, McKenzi Kumpf of the Knights got the game-winning basket with a second to play in a nonconference season finale.
Northview, now 8-13, begins Class 4A sectional play against the host team at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Terre Haute South. Bloomfield, 7-13, meets North Knox at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Class 2A Sullivan Sectional.
n Barr-Reeve 56, Linton 31 — At Linton, the host Miners managed just seven first-half points in a nonconference loss.
Joie Gadberry had 15 points for Linton, while Jenna Knepp led all scorers with 18 for the Vikings.
