Prep roundup: Linton rolls to Class A victory over North Knox

BICKNELL — Linton dominated Class A Sectional 40 football play Friday night, defeating host North Knox 46-0.

The 10-0 Miners will be at home for second-round action against Perry Central which led Eastern in its game at presstime. North Daviess and Tecumseh will meet in the other semifinal game.

Zane Hayden, Koye Kaiser and Abram Neff each scored for the Miners with Hayden scoring twice and combined to rush for more than 230 yards.

Kaiser went over the 1,000-yard mark and scored his 15th rushing touchdown of the season.

Austin Karaszia had two touchdown scoring passes, giving him 31 for the year.

The Miners had a 20-0 lead at halftime and scored twice in the third and fourth frames to post their fourth straight shutout and sixth of the year.

Hayden went six yards on a fourth-down play to score the first Linton touchdown and his interception set up the third score of the contest with Karaszia hooking up with Cole Bradbury on a 38-yard pass-run play.

Neff had the other Linton touchdown of the first half, scoring on a 25-yard run.

Linton punted for only the sixth time this season in the first half.

Grant Stamm caught his 12th touchdown pass to put Linton up 34-0 in the third period.

Next — Linton (10-0) faces the Eastern-Perry Central next Friday. North Knox concludes a 4-6 season.



• Leaders in state — Several Wabash Valley players were among the leaders in Indiana statistics through nine games.

In passing, Austin Karaszia of Linton was sixth with 160 completions in 217 attempts for 2,151 yards and 29 touchdowns. Payne Fortner of Sullivan was eighth with 145 completions in 262 attempts for 2,106 yards and 17 touchdowns.

In rushing, Chase VanSchoyck of North Central was second with 1,773 yards and on 167 carries and 17 touchdowns. Lucas Lorian of South Putnam was ninth with 1,463 yards and 18 touchdowns on 225 carries.

In receiving, Grant Stamm of Linton was 10th with 840 yards and 11 touchdowns on 47 receptions. Stamm also was tied for first in interceptions with six.

In solo tackles, Dante Rehmel of North Central was fourth with 89. Rehmel also was seventh in tackles for losses with 21.
