Union chief of staff to speak at Dine with a Doc

TERRE HAUTE — David A. Southwick will be the guest for Dine with a Doc from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Wabash Senior Citizen’s Center, 200 S. Fifth St., Terre Haute.

Southwick graduated from the University of Health Sciences-College of Osteopathic Medicine Kansas City in 1981. He did a rotational internship at Pontiac Hospital followed by a general surgery residency at Flint Osteopathic Hospital. After a five-year stint as a general surgeon in the United States Air Force he completed a fellowship in burn care and then another in hand surgery at Wayne State University, Detroit. He then moved to Terre Haute, where he was a practicing hand surgeon until a motor vehicle accident ended his surgical career. Since that time he helped develop the wound center at Union Hospital, where he has served as medical director. He is board certified in general surgery and has certificates of added qualification in both hand surgery and wound care. Southwick is presently the chief of staff at Union Hospital.
