TERRE HAUTE —
Terre Haute Regional Hospital has been granted a three-year accreditation with commendation by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.
Regional received the accreditation with commendation following an onsite evaluation by a physician surveyor. It was during the survey that the hospital demonstrated a commendation level of compliance with one or more standards that represent the full scope of the cancer program (cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality improvement). In addition, the hospital received compliance ratings for all other standards.
The accreditation program sets quality-of-care standards for cancer programs and reviews the programs to ensure they conform to those standards. Accreditation is given only to those facilities who have voluntarily committed to providing the highest level of quality cancer care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance. To maintain accreditation, Regional Hospital must undergo an onsite review every three years.
“Patient care is our top priority at Regional Hospital. We are pleased to receive the accreditation with commendation. Accountability is a large component of that care and we believe this accreditation helps us strive to give our best,” said Brian Bauer, chief executive officer of Regional Hospital.
