PARIS, ILL. —
Attention to a difficult issue is the goal of the second Operation Medicine Cabinet in Illinois’ Clark and Edgar counties. Nationally, the abuse of prescription drugs has been well-documented. Locally, 14 percent of teens report abuse of prescription drugs that were not prescribed to them, according to the “I Sing the Body Electric” youth risk behavior survey.
Additionally, CAMA and the CAMA Teens are concerned about the environmental aspects of proper disposal of medications. Proper disposal of drugs is important to prevent contamination of water systems.
CAMA and CAMA Teens will wash cars and serve refreshments to people who drop off medications from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 11 at Citizens National Bank, East Branch, in Paris and Lincoln Trails Ford on Illinois 1 in Marshall.
CAMA collaborates with the P2D2 program on ecology issues. See www.P2D2
program.org for details.
