Anytime Fitness to host Tough Hero contest

Anytime Fitness in Terre Haute is hosting a Tough Hero Competition at 10 a.m. Saturday to benefit the Active Heroes Charity, an organization that provides financial assistance and job placement services to military families in need.

“This is such a great way for us to give back to those who serve our country, and at the same time encourage people to get fit,” said Chad and Heather Atterson. “We hope a lot of people come out to support the cause. This isn’t a members-only type of thing; it’s open to the public.”

Participants can compete in one or more of four categories: pushups, sit-ups, pull-ups and weight lifting. There are men’s and women’s divisions and age brackets to keep the competition fair and fun. Participants can compete in any number of events. Winners will get prizes and free memberships.

Each registration is used to help a military family through Active Heroes, which supports a broad range of needs.

These include helping with financial issues such as mortgage, car payments, electricity bills or water bills.

Active Heroes also helps with special needs for military children including those with fallen parents, travel assistance for military families including vehicles for disabled veterans, job referral services for unemployed veterans and business attire for unemployed veterans while job searching.

Register at www.toughheroes.org. Select the Anytime Fitness located at 4425 S. Seventh St. or 101 S. Fruitridge Ave.
