Paris Hospital Laboratory receives accreditation

PARIS, Ill. — The Paris Community Hospital Laboratory recently received national recognition for its quality of service and commitment to excellence.

The laboratory was awarded accreditation from the College of American Pathologists, which is considered the “gold standard” in laboratory accreditation. The award followed a recent on-site inspection at PCH.

During the visit, the CAP inspectors examined the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the previous two years. The inspection also included examination of the entire staff’s qualifications, the laboratory equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as the overall management of the department.

Asuncion Dewitt, the laboratory’s medical director and pathologist, was congratulated for the “excellence of the services being provided.” Paris Community Hospital Laboratory is one of the more than 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide.

World MS Day was launched in 2009 and is spearheaded by the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation.   Logan Hambrock won the 800 meters in a time of 2:05.95 and edged teammate Jackson Bertoli in the 1,600 with a time of 4:36.13 to help Terre Haute South win a three-way boys high school track and field meet at Edgewood. Hambrock also teamed with Bertoli, Devon Fuson and Scotty Noble to help the Braves with the 3,200 relay in a time of 8:36.
