Triathlon preparations under way in Robinson

ROBINSON, Ill. — Lincoln Trail College and Ecton Hardware are currently planning the spring Crawford County Triathlon in Robinson, Ill.

In preparation for the May 25 event, LTC is offering a 16-week triathlon training class: Tri Fitness, offered by arrangement. The course will feature lap swimming and additional training. Enrollees will have access to the Ragon-Parker Fitness Center on South Cross Street in Robinson, as well as the LTC pool. An instructor will be available upon request for swim coaching. Call 618-544-8657, ext. 1130, to arrange a time. The course will wrap up just in time for the May 25 triathlon.

A 175-yard swim will kick off the event at 8 a.m. in the LTC pool. It will be followed by a 12-mile bicycle ride and a 3-mile run. The competition is limited to 150 swimmers who will compete in the following male and female age groups: 18 to 28, 29 to 39, 40 to 50, 51 to 59, and 60 and older. Participants may compete individually or as a team.

Triathlon participant packet distribution and body marking will be from 5 to 8 p.m. May 24 in the LTC cafeteria. Check-in will be from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. on race day, May 25, in the LTC cafeteria.

Individual entry fee (which includes a Dri-Fit T-shirt) is $60 in advance, or $75 after April 26. Team entries are $70 in advance or $85 after April 26.
