Library program to feature optometrist

TERRE HAUTE — The Rockville Public Library, in conjunction with Senior Education Ministries, Inc., will present “Speaker’s Bureau” at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 10.

The featured speaker will be Dr. Charles Rutan, O.D., of Advantage EyeCare in Clinton.

After graduating from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 1987, Rutan returned to his home town of Clinton, to begin his career in optometry. He was among the first in Indiana to be board certified in ttreating and managing ocular diseases.

Rutan also specializes in low vision and helps those whose eyes have been damaged by disease. All types of contact lenses are filled by Rutan, including lenses that correct astigmatism, overnight corneal refraction therapy lenses and bifocal contact lenses.

His office (Advantage Eyecare) also offers co-management for the laser correction surgery and cataract surgery.

Eye health is especially important for senior citizens to learn about and understand. Many older American’s require some form of vision aid, like prescription glasses or readers, to see clearly. A question-and-

answer period will follow his discussion.
