CHIP info sessions set

TERRE HAUTE — The Maple Center for Integrative Health is offering four free Complete Health Improvement Program information sessions to learn how to reverse hardening of the arteries and heart disease; eat more and lose weight; drop blood cholesterol 15 to 20 percent; reduce coronary risk factors with just a fork and knife; control Type II diabetes through lifestyle; reduce hypertension; work with a physician to reduce reliance on prescription medications; and develop long-term strategies for optimal health.

All sessions are from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Terre Haute:

• Sept. 6 — Union Hospital East, Atrium Level Classroom, 1600 N. Seventh St.

• Sept. 10 — Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce, 630 Wabash Ave.

• Sept. 13 — Terre Haute Regional Hospital, classrooms 1 and 2, 3901 S. Seventh St.

• Sept. 17 — United Methodist Temple, sunshine room, 5301 S. U.S. 41 (next to Walmart)

Starting Sept. 24 the fall CHIP weekly seminars will be from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays for eight weeks. The classes will take place in the community room at Ivy Tech Community College Campus, 8000 S. Education Drive, Terre Haute.

Registration fee for the first 50 enrollees is $399 for an individual and $650 for two registrations. Both fees will increase by $50 each after the first 50 enrollees.

Registration fee includes: two blood tests for cholesterol profile and blood sugar, followed by breakfast; two lifestyle evaluations; personalized counseling; 16 lifestyle lectures; Dynamic Living Text & Workbook, Natural Foods Cookbook, food demonstrations and samples and monthly alumni support meetings. Limited scholarships are available through past participants and the Wabash Valley Community Foundation.
