Meth awareness presentation set

ROBINSON, Ill. — Marathon, in partnership with Leadership Crawford County (Ill.), The Hershey Co., and Lincoln Trail College have developed a presentation to educate and promote awareness about methamphetamine use and the dangers posed by meth to the community.

The program is 6 to 8 p.m. CDT Monday in Lincoln Trail College Auditorium at Robinson, Ill. Snacks and beverages will be served. The presentation is free of charge and open to all community members.

Meth is the No. 1 illegal drug abused in the United States according to a survey released in August by the National Association of Counties.

Meth is a powerful, highly addictive stimulant drug that dramatically affects the central nervous system.

The presentation is titled “Methamphetamines – A Blight on Society.” It provides information about meth, including how it is made, the effects of meth on users, and the dangers posed by meth to the community. The presentation will be followed by questions and an open mike to facilitate a community discussion. Immediately after the presentation, visitors will have an opportunity to visit with representatives of law enforcement and other community resources targeting the meth problems in the community.
