Dine with a Doc in West Terre Haute

WEST TERRE HAUTE — Senior Education Ministries, Inc. has scheduled Dine with a Doc on the second Tuesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Vigo Community Center at 127 W. Johnson Ave. in West Terre Haute.

The event is free and welcomes the local senior public to getting to hear an educational topic while enjoying a complimentary breakfast. Each doctor has donated this time in effort to listen, hear and answer questions while sharing a meal with you.

The program was designed to allow the seniors to get out of their homes, fellowship with their peers, extend their available financial resources, promote enhanced living and educate them (from a preventative standpoint) with the goal of ensuring their quality of life and providing them with the resources and information to make informed decisions.

Dr. Jon L. Stockrahm, DO is Tuesday’s guest. Stockrahm specializes and is Board Certified in Hospice Care and Palliative Medicine and Internal Medicine in Terre Haute. He graduated from Ohio University of Osteopathic Medicine. He has his own practice as well as serving current appointments with Terre Haute Regional Hospital (attending physician), and Union Hospital (Emcare Hospitalist, wound care physician, and provisional attending physician).

He is the medical director for Westminster Village and Vista Care Hospice. Stockrahm has professional affiliations with the Indiana State Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Internists, Sigma Sigma Phi Osteopathic Honor Society and American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Stockrahm enjoys meeting with the public and is extremely knowledgeable. He uses his wonderful sense of humor to tell stories and display his compassionate nature.

Lunch will be courtesy of VistaCare.

There will be an opening prayer and devotion at the beginning of the program. A wellness clinic will be available to assist with blood pressure. Additionally, Lauren Davidson from the Purdue Extension will be on hand to help with nutritional needs. Door prizes are available courtesy of Senior Education Ministries, Inc., Comfort Keepers, The Bug Man, Westridge HealthCare and more.
