BRIDGE COLUMN: April 29, 2012

TERRE HAUTE — The Terre Haute Bridge Center has slowly lost membership over the last several years because of the membership’s aging. We have tried to encourage the youth of the community to try this wonderful game. Their lives are apparently busy with their various interests (i.e., electronic games).

Tana Holt, with the aid of bridge instructor Sharon Austin of Indianapolis, started a game on Monday evenings called Fun Bridge. This game is played by those who wish for a more relaxed game, where you may get help or tips as you play, to make your game better. Anyone may come to play, with the first four games free of charge. The charge is $5 per session. Game time is 6:30 p.m., but come at 6 p.m. if you are interested in bridge tips by various volunteer members. Light refreshments are donated by Tana or one of her cohorts.

If you enjoy this game and want to expand your bridge game, you may want to sign up for lessons offered by certified teacher, Mary Lunsford. These classes are offered on Thursday at 10 a.m. with a game at noon to put into play what you have learned.

This all takes place at the Terre Haute Bridge Center at 303 S. 14th St. The phone number is (812) 232-1230.
