Valley woman’s recipe featured by Taste of Home

TERRE HAUTE — Taste of Home magazine has honored a Riverton Parke Jr.-Sr. High School Foods Services employee for her recipe.

Malena Coleman, who has worked in the school cafeteria for 11 years, entered a contest last year in which schools across the country were asked to send in recipes to be published in a cookbook, “Taste of Home, A+ Recipes From Schools Across America.”

More than 14,000 recipes from all over the country were entered in the contest, but only 243 were chosen. Coleman entered several recipes, and one — “Peaches and Cream Jelly Roll” — was selected as a winner.

“I’m so excited to represent my school in something I love to do,” says Coleman, who is married, has two children, and lives in Rockville; she also recently became a grandmother.

The recipe book featuring Coleman’s recipe and her recognition, is now available for purchase at www.tasteofhome.com, and is sold locally through “Books Are Fun.”
