TERRE HAUTE — The Purdue Extension Service — Vigo County Office is offering a Food Safety Certification training on Oct. 19 at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds in the 4-H Meeting Room.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the class will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.
To register, contact the Restaurant & Hospitality Association of Indiana at 1-800-678-1957. Cost of the training is $130 which includes instruction, book and exam. Non-profit agencies can register for $105. To take the exam only, there is a $50 fee.
Indiana law requires one certified safe food handler in each eating establishment.
A ServSafe Certificate is given upon successful completion of the 90 question exam and recognition from the International Food Safety Council and permanent registration in the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s national registry.
Continuing education credits are available from the ACFR and ADA if applied for. Re-certification is recommended every five years.
