Tried 'n' True: Recipe rubs meat lovers the right way

By Jackie Lindley

My good friend, Reta Bumpus, usually doesn’t try new recipes but she tried this rub and really likes it.

I love to have this on hand to use on any kind of meat — chicken, fish, pork or beef — before grilling. We even like this on meatloaf. Just sprinkle a little on top.

This recipe makes enough seasoning for about four pounds of meat.

Only Rub You’ll Ever Need

1 teaspoon cumin

1 tablespoon chili powder

1 tablespoon kosher salt

1 teaspoon oregano

2 teaspoon garlic powder

2 teaspoon onion powder

1 tablespoon paprika

1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed

• Sprinkle on chicken, fish, pork, beef before grilling.

Makes about 2/3 cup.
