TERRE HAUTE — All restaurant inspections by the Vigo County Health Department are scored on a critical and non-critical system.

To make the scores easier to comprehend:

A critical item is one that is likely to contribute to food contamination or food-borne illness.

A non-critical item is a violation that is less likely to cause food contamination or an illness but is undesirable in a food establishment.

Aug. 8-12:

Page’s Food Market Inc — 2600 Lafayette Ave (3 Critical, 3 Non-Critical) Smoked ham 50 degrees, Eckrich Healthy Ones 67 degrees and cut melons in back 57-61 degrees — should be 41 degrees or less; large pieces of deli meat marked to hold until 2012; handles on handwash sink in meat room observed with debris.

Antique Dairy Queen — 395 E David Dr (2 Critical, 3 Non-Critical) Chili dog sauce held at 127 degrees — should be 135 degrees or above; fruit flies present around floor drain under front counter.

Hardee’s #1500648 — 3381 S. U.S. 41 (2 Critical) Sausage, ham and cheese mixture for omelets at 58 degrees (discarded); knives in rack observed with food debris.

Gordon Food Service Marketplace — 5000 S. Seventh St. (1 Critical) Pulled chicken, gravy and sweet potato sticks 90 degrees on sample table, not time marked to discard (corrected).

Ambrosini’s — 1367 Wabash Ave. (1 Critical, 3 Non-Critical) In cooler, found hot dogs, baked beans, spaghetti noodles, lasagna, penne pasta and beef ribs at 48—63 degrees (discarded).

Outback Steakhouse — 3700 S. U.S. 41 (1 Critical, 1 Non-Critical) Knives in wall mounted rack observed with debris.

Hamilton Center Inc — Sub Acute — 1400 E. Crossing Blvd. (1 Critical, 1 Non-Critical) No sanitizer provided for wiping down counters, large equipment, etc.

  I always liked Granola bars. Also Granola, to eat by handful. Pat Coolley always keeps granola on hand to nibble on. I don’t like raisins so I use dried cherries or cranberries instead. Instead of brown sugar use Splenda or your choice. I also use sugar-free syrup. So my husband, Gene, can eat these bars, too. This recipe comes from Rose Hill Community Church.
