Restaurant Inspections: Sept. 26, 2011

TERRE HAUTE — The Vigo County Health Department inspected the following establishments Sept. 5-9.

Favorite Italian Restaurant: 3631 Wabash Ave. (9 Critical, 5 Non-Critical) Management could not answer critical questions concerning basic food safety; baked potatoes, sausage gravy, chicken/fish breading left out from the night before; mold observed on bags of parsley and roasted red peppers in cooler, rotten green peppers and lettuce in cooler; raw chicken stored next to cooked pasta and over chubs of ham; cooked meatballs not date-marked; fried chicken, lasagna, cooked vegetables, tuna salad, etc. held beyond date to discard; meat slicers, table-mounted can opener, utensils, pizza pans, etc., observed with dried food debris; dishes, pots, pans, utensils, kitchenware found dirty from the night before, not washed; handwash sinks observed dirty.

Dew Drop Inn: 1805 N. 19th (2 Critical, 4 Non-Critical) Cigarette ashes in handwash sink; debris on ice chute in machine.

Gerhardt’s Bierstube Restaurant: 1724 Lafayette Ave. (2 Critical, 2 Non-Critical) BBQ and cooked potatoes not date-marked; mounted can opener observed with dried food debris.

Riley American Legion Post 328: P.O. Box 31 (2 Critical, 1 Non-Critical) Raw hamburger stored over sliced ham, turkey and cheese in refrigerator; cooked chicken breasts held past date to discard – 7 days maximum.

Rick’s Smokehouse & Grill: 3401 S. U.S. 41 (1 Critical, 1 Non-Critical) Observed brown residue in front handwash sink.

Lonestar Steakhouse & Saloon: 3060 S. U.S. 41 (1 Critical) Inside ice machine found with black debris.

Super Station: 1257 Poplar St. (1 Critical) Observed black debris on soda fountain nozzles.

Bev’s Country Kitchen: 1303 S. 25th St. (1 Critical) Sausage gravy above 70 degrees after 2 hours cooling (discarded).

Cinnabon #235: 3401 S. U.S. 41 (1 Critical) Black debris found inside ice machine.

Panda Garden: 3540 S. U.S. 41 (2 Non-Critical)

Kentucky Fried Chicken: 4400 S. U.S. 41 (1 Non-Critical)

Penn Station: 2736 Wabash Ave. (1 Non-Critical)

Fannie May: 3401 S. U.S. 41 (1 Non-Critical)

Dollar General #9482: 7205 S. Indiana 46

Spring Mill Bread Co: 78 W. Honey Creek Pkwy
