‘Meet the Beetles’ in Marshall


George, Ringo, Paul and John are coming to Marshall, Ill.

Marshall Main Street Program presents “Meet the Beetles Night on the Town” on Feb. 25, in the American Legion Post in Marshall.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. A prime rib dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $30 each and are available at Shore-Murphy Insurance Agency.

Saturday

Men of Note & Claudia to perform


The Men of Note and Claudia will perform from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Westminster Village in Terre Haute. Tickers are $5.

 The band will present big band standards made famous by such band leaders as Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey. Claudia Fulwiler will sing selections from the American Songbook from the ’40s and ’50s. The band also plays a variety of ballroom dances including waltzes and tangos.

Members of the Men of Note are vocalist Fulwiler, band leader George Graesch and Dalvin Boone on trumpet, pianist David Gibbs, bassist Mark Ford, drummer Pete Ekstrom, Matthew Balensuela on reeds and Norm Hanson on trombone.

Gallery begins spring exhibitions

Indiana State University’s Bare Montgomery Art Gallery will feature works by Master of Fine Arts students Soulaf Abas, Michelle Adler and Jason Krueger in the first exhibit of the semester, “Visions.”

The exhibition will run through Feb. 24. The Bare Montgomery Gallery is in Fairbanks Hall at 220 N. Seventh St.

The diverse showcase will include oil paintings, lithographs, wood engravings, relief block prints, mixed media prints, walnut ink paintings and foil imaging. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Gallery plans Affair on Square

Plans are under way for the second annual Art Affair on the Square scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 23 in downtown Rockville.

In addition to vendors, the event will include a special bike ride sponsored by Gateway Trails, a tractor show, and another opportunity to tour Parke County’s covered bridges and mills.

All types of fine arts and crafts will again line the historic square in Rockville.

Each vendor will be allowed a 12- by 12-foot booth area for a $45 fee with no commission charged on sales.
