ISU to host clinical supervision conference in August

Indiana State University will host a conference for licensed social workers, licensed clinical social workers, licensed marriage and family therapists, licensed mental health counselors and psychologists on Aug. 13.

The conference, “The Art of Clinical Supervision for Adult Learners,” will feature speaker Sophia Dziegielewski, professor of social work at the University of Cincinnati.

Dziegielewski is also the editor of the Journal of Social Work Service Research. She has served as chairwoman for the University of Central Florida Human Subjects Review Board and dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Cincinnati. She has written seven textbooks, 79 articles and numerous book chapters. Throughout her career, she has been active in clinical practice, maintaining a current license in her field as well as serving as an expert witness in the courts.

Those attending the conference are eligible to receive six continuing education Category I credit hours. Partial credit will not be issued.

At the conference, participants will learn how to identify different types of adult learners, become better supervisors and handle ethical issues within the supervisory setting.

The event, to be staged at the Landsbaum Center for Health Education, 1433 N. 61⁄2 St., from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., is sponsored by the ISU Department of Social Work, Hamilton Center, National Association of Social Workers-Indiana Chapter, Region 9 Education Service Center and West Central Indiana Area Health Education Center.
