Well-known trumpet virtuoso to perform with college jazz band

ROBINSON, Ill. — Well-known trumpet virtuoso and music educator Allen Vizzutti will perform with the Lincoln Trail College Jazz Band and Statesmen Singers at 7 p.m. CDT today as part of the college’s annual Jazz Day festivities.

Vizzutti has visited more than 60 countries and every state in the union to perform with a rainbow of artists and ensembles as a classical and jazz artist. He has appeared as guest soloist with symphony orchestras, in recital, on television and in jazz venues around the world. His soaring trumpet can be heard on more than 150 movie and game soundtracks including “Star Trek,” “Back to the Future” and “Halo” and “Medal of Honor.” His love of expression through composition has led to premier performances by the Summit Brass and U.S. Navy and Air Force bands.

Prior to the evening concert, Vizzutti will conduct a clinic for high school and college band students. The clinic is presented thanks to the support of the City of Robinson Tourism Council and the Silas and Ruth Claypool Foundation.

“We are so excited we are able to bring Allen to Robinson,” said LTC Performing Arts Coordinator Yvonne Newlin.

General admission concert tickets, available at the door, are $8 per adult and $4 per student. For more information, call (618) 544-8657, ext. 1433. For more information on LTC, visit www.facebook.com/lincolntrailcollege or www.twitter.com/ltc_il.
