Clay City Calico Quilters plan show at Lions Club Pottery Festival

CLAY CITY — The Clay City Calico Quilters are sponsoring their 25th annual quilt show at the Clay City Lions Club Pottery Festival June 9 and 10.

While most of the festival events will take place at Goshorn Park, the quilt show will be set up in the REIN Center Community Library at 700 Main St., just south of the Ford dealership.

Show hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 9 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 10.

The show will open before other festival activities from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 8. Admission at all viewings is $2.

All quilts displayed are new to the show with the exception of the 2011 Viewer’s Choice quilts, which are shown again when and if they are available.

Each year individuals viewing the show are asked to vote for their favorite in each of the following categories: Old Favorites, Bed Quilts, Miscellaneous and Challenge.

The bed quilts will be displayed full view, as well as wall quilts, baby quilts and various quilted items.

Quilts, made as a club project for the Council on Domestic Abuse, will be shown and later presented by CODA.

Challenge quilts, designed by members will make up another exhibit. Two coordinating fabrics were chosen, and members add extra fabric of their choice to create a wide variety of small quilts.

These quilts showcase the individual talents and creativity of members.

Each year there are door prize drawings as well as instant winners.

The door prizes, many handmade, are provided by individual members.
