TERRE HAUTE — The Turman Art Gallery at Indiana State University is presenting a ceramics exhibition titled “Al2O32SiO22H2O Form, Function and Communication.” The public is invited to attend the opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. March 25.
“Al2O32SiO22H2O Form, Function and Communication” is conceived to draw new attention to clay as a material with fresh significance in contemporary art, while acknowledging the history from which it evolved. The exhibition explores both the functional and non-functional aspects of current ceramic art. The exhibited works not only reflect the personal vocabulary of each of the artists, but the cultural climate in which they were produced. The artists included in the exhibition are ISU ceramics faculty, graduate, undergraduate and ceramics design students. The Turman Art Gallery is on the ISU campus in the Fine Arts Building on Chestnut, just west of Seventh Street. “Al2O32SiO22H2O Form, Function and Communication” runs through April 9. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This exhibition is free. For more information, call (812) 841-2884.
