Old National Bank repeats as one of World’s Most Ethical Companies

TERRE HAUTE — The Ethisphere Institute named Old National Bank as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies for the second consecutive year. The 2013 recipients were honored March 6 in New York City as part of the annual Global Ethics Summit.

Old National was the only United States company in the banking category to receive this honor and one of just 14 companies to have also earned the Ethics Inside Certification. Ethics Inside is the only independent verification of a company’s ethics and compliance program and practices.

The World’s Most Ethical Companies recognize organizations that show leadership in promoting ethical business standards. Recipients go beyond making statements about doing business “ethically” and translate that statement into action, introducing innovative ideas to benefit the public and compelling others to follow suit.

“We are excited to see the 2013 World’s Most Ethical Companies take these leadership positions, and embrace the correlation between ethical behavior and improved financial performance,” said Alex Brigham, executive director of Ethisphere.

Bob Jones, president and CEO of Old National Bank, said, “We are honored and humbled to receive this prestigious recognition for the second time. It is a testament to our associates and our company commitment to maintaining the highest standards in business ethics and risk management.”

Ethisphere reviewed nominations from companies in more than 100 countries and 36 industries.

The methodology for evaluation includes reviewing codes of ethics, litigation and regulatory infraction histories; evaluating the investment in innovation and sustainable business practices; looking at activities designed to improve corporate citizenship; and studying nominations from senior executives, industry peers, suppliers and customers.
