TERRE HAUTE —
The Torner Center in Deming Park will host a Kids Clay Art Class on Jan. 26. The kids will receive hands-on experience working with clay to create flowers for Valentine’s Day. The class will be from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is $20 per person and includes all supplies. Space is limited.

In addition, a couples pottery class is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 11 and 13.
An instructor will guide couples through four-handed throwing (couples share a wheel) by candlelight at the Torner Center. Enjoy light fare, chocolate, sparkling cider and mood-music while celebrating Valentine’s Day.
Participants are encouraged to wear or bring clothes they don’t mind getting dirty.

In 1899, Hulman and Company began offering up what was to become one of the oldest brands in the country, Clabber baking powder. In 1923, the company changed the baking powder brand name to Clabber Girl.

Professional baseball’s unwritten but ironclad code of racial discrimination had kept Robinson and other African-Americans out of the majors since the 1880s. -
