Home & Family Arts at Vigo County Fair open to everyone

TERRE HAUTE — Vigo County Fair Home & Family Arts Open Class entries (except pies and cookies) will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. July 11. Pie and cookie entries will be accepted from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. July 14. There is a single entry fee of $5 which allows an unlimited number of articles to be exhibited in the Home and Family Arts Division. Exhibitors can pick up entry tags at the Purdue Extension Service-Vigo County Office at 275 Ohio St. or at the Wabash Valley Fairgrounds beginning July 2.

The Home & Family Arts Open Class consists of seven departments: Canning, Culinary (baking), Hobby & Crafts, Horticulture, Miscellaneous Foods, Needlecraft, and Photography. The open class is open to men, women, teenagers, and children, including 4-H members. There are no age, gender, marital status, residency or membership requirements.

Fair books are available at the Purdue Extension Service–Vigo County Office. The fair books are free and contain information about all divisions of the fair including exhibit sections, entry fees, rules, judging, department superintendents, deadline for entry and release and the schedule of events. The third annual Baker’s Best Contest will be July 15. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners.
