Indiana Cage Fighting to hit Terre Haute on Feb. 18

TERRE HAUTE — Indiana Cage Fighting “Redemption” comes to Terre Haute on Feb. 18.

Live Mixed Martial Arts begins at 8 p.m. in the Indiana National Guard Armory at 3614 Maple Ave. Doors open at 6.

The sport of MMA is a “regulated” event by the state of Indiana. However, Ohio, Kentucky and Illinois fighters and their entourage also will attend.

Guest celebrities Geoff Meed, Mark Coleman and Wes Sims also will attend the event considered one of the nation’s premier MMA-sanctioned events.

Meed is a second-degree black belt, was inducted into USA Martial Arts “Hall of Fame,” and is a cast member of “Fast and Furious 5” (his character was Macroy) as well as a cast member of the upcoming TV series “Awake,” where he plays the part of an up-and-coming UFC fighter. Autograph books and cameras will be allowed.

Coleman, UFC Hall of Famer, Pride Fighting Championships, 2000 Open Weight Grand Prix champion, became the first UFC Heavyweight Champion by a complex submission lock known as the neck crank.

Sims is one of the tallest MMA combatants in recent times at 6 feet, 8 inches. UFC Ultimate Fighter, Strikeforce, Sims began training to compete in MMA after meeting Coleman.

Terre Haute area fighters include Dave McManus, Zach Edington, Quinton Daniels, Chris Blevins, Jonathon Griffin, Cory Ewing, Shane Edmund, Kyle Allen, Phil Halverson and Kelsey Bisping. All have met state and international criteria to be cage fighters. McManus and Edington are scheduled for title fights.
