Butler Ballet to present ‘The Nutcracker’

INDIANAPOLIS — Magic is about to happen again at the country estate of Counselor and Frau Von Stahlbaum when Butler Ballet presents five performances of “The Nutcracker,” Nov. 29-Dec. 2, at Clowes Memorial Hall.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29; 8 p.m. Nov. 30; 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Dec. 1; and 2 p.m. Dec. 2. Tickets are $21.50 to $28.50 for adults; $17 to $23 for children, students and seniors; and $14 to $20 for groups of 15 or more. Butler Ballet’s 30th annual performance of Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet will feature 124 dancers, including 34 young dancers from the Indianapolis community. This year’s “Nutcracker” will feature the Butler Symphony Orchestra performing the score. Morgan Sicklick, a senior from Woodcliff Lake, N.J., and Danielle Morano, a senior from St. James, N.Y., share the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Justin Metcalf-Burton (senior, Gaithersburg, Md.) and Matthew Doolin (senior, Jacksonville, Fla.) will dance as the Nutcracker.

Patrick Green (senior, Washington, D.C.) and George Vargas (junior, Grasonville, Md.) will play the Snow King. Katherine Currier (junior, Norwich, Vt.) and Coleen Rhea (Flemington, N.J.) will be the Snow Queen.

The Dew Drop Fairy will be danced by Shelby Shenkman (junior, Boca Raton, Fla.) and Mónica Muñoz (senior, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico), and Stuart Coleman (junior, Lynchburg, Va.) and Christian Griggs-Drane (junior, Richmond, Va.) will play the Cavalier. Margaret Carey (junior, Dayton, Ohio) will dance the role of Clara, and Christiaan Ruff (sophomore, Durham, N.C.) will portray Fritz.
