The Putnam County Public Library invites the public to “A Conversation with the Artists: Norbert Krapf, Richard Fields, and Gordon Bonham,” at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at the library, 103 E. Poplar St. in Greencastle.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for hors d’ oeuvres and exhibition of the photographs.
This free event celebrates the book release of “Songs in Sepia and Black and White” by former Indiana Poet Laureate, Norbert Krapf, and photographer, Richard Fields.
Musician Gordon Bonham will accompany Krapf’s reading, while the photographs by Richard Fields will be on display.
IU Press describes the book as “a collaboration born of a shared love of music, photography, poetry and Indiana. Richard Fields’ black and white and sepia photos are evocative imaginings of Norbert Krapf’s poems, visual metaphors that extend and deepen their vision. Krapf’s poems pay tribute to poets from Homer and Virgil to Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson and Wendell Berry, and to singer-songwriters such as Woody Guthrie and John Lennon. They also explore the poet’s German heritage, question ethnic prejudice and social conflict, and praise the natural world.”
Bonham, Indiana guitarist and bluesman, has been collaborating with Norbert since 2008 and has performed with such greats as Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Solomon Burke and B.B. King.
