Oktoberfest today through Saturday downtown

TERRE HAUTE — Oktoberfest, a German American festival in downtown Terre Haute, re-opens today with music by the members of the Brazil Concert Band. The event will continue Friday and Saturday at the Clabber Girl Festival Marketplace, Ninth and Cherry streets. Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight today and Friday, and 4 p.m. to midnight Saturday. Admission is free.

Traditional German and American foods, including grilled brats, German potato salad, sauerkraut, schnitzel, chicken, pretzels and apple strudel, are prepared and served by club members with food take-outs available. German import and domestic beers, soft drinks and coffee are also served.

Live music for listening and dancing is non-stop beginning at 4 p.m. with Eddie Korosa and the boys from Illinois and Joe Polach with the St. Louis Express.

Festival proceeds fund the scholarship program and a number of community projects. Check www.terrehauteoberlandlerclub.org or call 812-235-5722 for more information.
