Enter Year of the River Poster Competition

TERRE HAUTE — Art Spaces, Inc., Arts Illiana and Vigo County Public Library will host the 2013 Year of the River Poster Competition to select artwork for Year of the River posters, which will be used anywhere from websites to printed materials and billboards.

Artwork must be inspired by, about, or in some way related to the Wabash River or its watershed; or rivers or water as they impact our lives.

One image will be selected from each of the following age categories: elementary school, middle school, high school and 18 plus. Artists, designers, students and other interested individuals who are living, working or attending school in Clay, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion or Vigo counties are eligible to enter. Images of works in any media will be considered.

Entries must be received by Oct. 12; winners will be notified by the end of October.

Details and guidelines for entering are available at www.wabashvalley

artspaces.com or www.arts

illiana.org. For questions or more information contact the Art Spaces office at 812-235-2801 or email, info@wabash

valleyartspaces.com or Arts Illiana at 812-235-5007 or email info@artsilliana.org.

The primary impetus of 2013 Year of the River is to help connect the community to the Wabash River. Arts, environmental, educational and recreational events based on the Wabash River and rivers and water will be staged throughout 2013.

Examples include a Big Read, concerts, exhibits, outdoor art installations, eco-artist visits, a discussion series, plays, poetry, films, an environmental symposium, races and recreational events, historical exhibits, hands-on workshops, environmental projects, oral history projects, tree planting, scientific water studies and more.

The events will all be promoted through a website, printed materials, billboards, media and direct mail.
