Wabash Valley Weekends: Nov. 20, 2009

Turkey Bowling

• GFS Marketplace is teaming up with The Salvation Army and 102.7 WBOW to raise nonperishable food items for the food pantry.

• From noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, drop off any nonperishable food item at GFS Marketplace on South Seventh street, next to the Furniture Gallery, and get two chances to bowl with frozen turkeys. Scores will be tallied and the person whose turkeys knock down the most pins will win a Thanksgiving meal complete with turkey, ham and all the trimmings.

• “Having fun is what we are all about,” says GFS Assistant Manager Wade Fulford. “We want all of our customers to share in the fun atmosphere every day at our store. Our staff provides outstanding service and giving back to our community makes events like this even better.”

• Maj. Gordon Hoag of The Salvation Army says this event is needed this year more than ever. “We have more people asking for help now, many who have never needed assistance before.”

• 102.7 WBOW will broadcast live and have giveaways. GFS will offer free food sampling all day.
