Spooky nights
• It will be a spooky night from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at the Swope Art Museum, as characters from “Terre Haute past” come to life in the galleries and converse with the living.
• Delicious treats, a cash bar, a book chat and a quick tour of new acquisitions make it a perfect place to meet friends and start your weekend.
• Swope Book Club features “Terre Haute: Queen City of the Wabash” by Mike McCormick, hosted by the author at 6:30 p.m.
• Tour of new acquisitions to the Swope collection with Executive Director Brian Lee Whisenhunt is scheduled at 8 p.m.
• The Museum will host living characters from historic Terre Haute throughout the evening, compliments of Vigo County Historical Society. Meet and converse with historic characters from Terre Haute and discuss their portraits on view in the exhibition “Radicals, Patriots & Artists of Conscience.”
• A slideshow of scary images from Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Masque of the Red Death” also will be playing in the Swope lobby.
Classic comes to life
• A classic novel will be brought to life on the Tilson Auditorium stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday when “To Kill a Mockingbird” comes to Indiana State.
At the Opry
• The Makeshifts, a new rockabilly act, performs at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Boot City Opry.
• A trio, the Makeshifts play everything from rock ‘n’ roll to classic country.
