Elvis tribute to benefit Educational/Family Services

TERRE HAUTE — Elvis is coming to town and he’s all shook up about supporting educational opportunities for people in need in the Wabash Valley.

Elvis impersonator Marc Stucker of Rockville will entertain young and old alike with his hip-shaking Elvis tribute in a show at 7 p.m. Aug. 11 in the Booker T. Washington Community Center at 1101 S. 13th St. in Terre Haute.

The show is a fundraiser for Educational/Family Services in West Terre Haute. Educational/Family Services is a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Providence of St. Mary-of-the-Woods and provides free tutoring for children and free GED preparation and basic education for adults.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and may be purchased at the door the night of the performance or ahead of time through Educational/Family Services.

“I’ve seen Marc in action. He is very entertaining, and the audience loves him. He is very personable, and he really does a great job,” said Penny Sullivan, director of Educational/Family Services. “I thought it would be good for the community and profitable for both Marc and EFS.”

Stucker has been singing along to Elvis and performing music most of his life. He has been performing his Elvis tribute show for the past three years.

“I just really love the music. This is a chance to share that with people,” he said. “The side benefit is just keeping the music going and making people happy.”

Educational/Family Services provides free educational opportunities to people of West Terre Haute and surrounding areas. Many of its clients are low income and would otherwise be left behind because of lack of education, Sullivan said.
