Taste of India to benefit United Way

TERRE HAUTE — The India Association of Terre Haute is planning its annual “Taste of India” for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Hulman Center. The beneficiary from this year’s proceeds will be United Way of the Wabash Valley, who services more than 190,000 individuals in a six-county area through its 33 community partners.  Many local organizations such as St. Ann Clinic, Terre Haute Children’s Museum, Ryves Hall, Light House Mission, Happiness Bag, Catholic Charities and others have been recipients from the event in past years.

“We are excited and thrilled to be named the beneficiary of the 2012 Taste of India event,” said Troy Fears, executive director of the United Way. “The generous support from this event will go towards helping us to continue to provide necessary funding to over 90 programs all across the Wabash Valley.”

The event is a showcase of Indian culture and cuisine. There will be several cultural dances from modern Indian to traditional, all done by Wabash Valley children and adults. Approximately 650 guests are expected to attend this year’s function.

For tickets contact Dr. Jayaprada Konijeti at (812) 442-5500.
