Art Affair on the Square offers children’s activities, music

ROCKVILLE — Check out Art Affair on the Square from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 23 in Rockville.

Sponsored by the Covered Bridge Art Association, the event will again be on the courthouse square in Parke County.

The Art Affair includes such juried works as: pottery, enamel, glass, jewelry, metal, wood, mixed media, oil, watercolor, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textile and fiber, as well as other skilled crafts.

The Art Affair will also include a Children’s Art Area offering activities including handprint flag, painting small ceramic pieces, face painting from pre-selected patterns, sidewalk chalk art, recycled jewelry, both bracelets and necklaces and handprint flowers.

Musicians from a wide variety of musical backgrounds will provide live entertainment on the square the entire day, and several county greenhouses are expected to offer a wide array of plants, both annuals and perennials and an unusual variety of herbs as well.

The shops of the square will be open as well and antique shops in the county. Food will be available both in local restaurants and bars and from vendors on the square.

A pancake breakfast will served from 8 to 10 a.m., for shoppers and vendors.

In addition, there will be an Antique Tractor Tour of Parke County, and a family bike ride ending on the square. Sponsored by Covered Bridge Gateway Trails Association, “Fiddler on the Roof” will be performed at the Ritz Theater by Parke Players, and the Village Market will be open at the Depot from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
