2012 Special Olympics Indiana seeks volunteers

TERRE HAUTE — About 1,000 volunteers are needed for the 2012 Special Olympics Indiana Summer Games at Indiana State University from June 1-3.

It would be impossible for Summer Games to be a success without the countless hours that are donated by volunteers every year.

This three-day event features more than 2,500 Special Olympics athletes competing in eight sports: aquatics, bocce, bowling, cycling, horseshoes, powerlifting, track & field and volleyball.

Volunteers are needed to assist with competitions, registration, special events and more.

Each volunteer will receive a T-shirt to wear as they volunteer, and then will be able to keep as a souvenir. Volunteers must show photo ID at registration; minors do not need a photo ID, but must be accompanied by an adult.

The 2012 Summer Games call the athletes to “Raise the Game.”

To get involved email tmiller@soindiana.org or call (317) 328-2000.
