TERRE HAUTE — • Registration is now open for Summer Science Camp, sponsored by the ISU Center for Science Education. The day camp, open to children in grades K-7 (during the 2012-2013 academic year), will feature problem-solving skills and hands-on activities. It will run from July 25 through Aug. 9.

The dates of this year’s camp are July 25-Aug. 9. The camp meets most weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon, except for all-day field trips. Camp will not be in session Fridays or weekends. The cost is $100 per child. To obtain a registration packet and for more information, please visit www.indstate.edu/scied/summerscicamp.htm or email Tammy.Barnes@indstate.edu.

• The Summer Youth Art Program at the Swope Art Museum provides an opportunity for children to explore art and be creative. This year’s program is scheduled for June 11 through Aug. 10. Forty four classes will be taught by 11 talented art professionals, with one week of classes devoted to children with autism and special needs. More information is available at swope.org.

• The YMCA Summer Day Camp will run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 4 through Aug. 10. The camp is for students in grades K-8.

The purpose of the Vigo County YMCA Summer Camp Program is to provide quality care in a safe and supportive environment that encourages the physical, emotional, intellectual and social growth of the children, while supporting and strengthening families.

The Summer Camp Program promotes the character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. The program will meet the needs of children at the different stages of development by creating an environment that is structured, but encourages independence, cooperation and self-control among the children who participate.
